So after yesterday's coke & twix bar... and I only drank half a 12 oz coke... I woke up and got more done between 4 & 5:00 than I had all day. I was still exhausted though and went home and straight to bed. I was OUT by 5:30 p.m., slept till 10pm, got up, ate a nice bowl of old-fashioned cooked oatmeal & was back in bed by 12:15 a.m. Didn't sleep well, but that's to be expected since I threw my whole sleep cycle off.

This morning:
8:00 slim-fast shake, cup of tea
11:00 bagel & cream cheese & more tea

Planning to have bean soup & maybe some cornbread for lunch. The extra carbs today should be okay since I have to teach dance tonight. I'll need the extra energy.

I'll also need to be sure to eat something about 5:30 to keep me going through class. Last week I was falling on my face during 2nd class.

Some people eat when they're depressed. Others eat when they're bored.

I eat to stay awake.

I've been falling asleep at my desk all day, not because it's boring, or because I'm not busy - I'm slammed! I just can't stay awake - can't stay focused.

Time for caffeine and sugar to the rescue!

A 12 oz Coke & a Twix bar!!!

Damn the torpedoes - full steam ahead! I'll go back to being good at my next meal!

Was bad for a couple days & didn't log. I don't think I'm doing too badly at all. Definitely a big improvement over what I WAS doing. Only soda where indicated, and water, green tea w/plum juice, or hot tea otherwise.

I'm going to go backwards & see if I remember.

Tuesday 9/19/06
Breakfast - Slim-fast shake.
Snack - Bagle & cream cheese & tea
Lunch - 4 oz container of lowfat cottage cheese (90 calories, 11g protein, 6g carbs), and a Dannon Light & Fit Smoothie (70 cal, 5g protein, 13g carbs).

Monday 9/18/06
Dinner - Oven fried pork chop (maybe a little bigger than the palm of my hand), and 2 heaping tablespoons of green bean casserole!
Also during the evening I had 2 large orange soda/coconut rum.
Lunch - 6 hot wings from Roosters.
Snack - Quaker oat breakfast bar.
Breakfast - Dannon smoothie.

Sunday 9/17/06
Dinner - Slim-fast shake
Afternoon snack - crushed pineapple & cottage cheese.
Lunch - Don't remember.
Breakfast - Don't remember.
I had a large strawberry milkshake in there somewhere, but can't remember exactly when.

The day didn't turn out nearly as bad as I thought it would food-wise, in spite of the parties at work.

At breakfast, they brought in doughnuts & coffee, so I had a total of three with two cups of coffee.

Lunchtime: Big buffett of great food! I made my famous chili-cheese dip w/Fritos - I only had four chips w/ dip. I also had a tablespoon each of several different things - 3 cocktail weenies, southern creamed corn, green beans, crock pot potatoes, macaroni salad, & chicken & noodles. I didn't get any dessert. Gave in to a rough morning and drank a coke.

Then it was off to the dentist for a root canal (ugh). So I knew I wasn't going to be able to eat much for dinner. Afterwards, slept & slept. Valium is my friend.

Dinner: Bless Jack's heart... he got something he knew I could eat and would enjoy. He got gnocchi! Awwwww! I love gnocchi! And he cooked broccoli, cauliflower & carrots on the side, which I promptly mixed altogether with the gnocchi. It was good, comfort food that I could eat. It was yummy. Then back to bed.

This morning the scales looked better than I thought they might - 250.0 on the button. Can't complain about that.

Breakfast today: A slim-fast shake & a cup of hot tea. I don't think I'll have any trouble getting back on track.

Now I know it'll probably go up again tomorrow, but still...

My initial ity-bity-i-can-do-it goal was to break through (on the way DOWN) the 250 lbs mark. AND I DID!!!!! 249.0 this morning! YIPPEEEE!!!!

Of course, I'm going to have to make today my "free" day instead of tomorrow because we're having parties all day long at work and I KNOW I'm going to want stuff I shouldn't have.

And someone just said there's Krispy Kream's!!! Oh Dear Gods!!!

Thuisday Update [Sep. 14th, 2006|09:38 am]

Although I crowed lots about this in my own LJ, most of you folks here are not on my flist so I will re-crow somoe more.

I stopped working out and watching wha I was eating in mid-July this year. At that point I was 218.5 pounds. From then until Tuesday of last week I put on 7 pounds. By going back to the gym and counting claories again, in 10 days I've busted my ass and taken off that weight and a half pound more. I am 218.0 today.

To borrow from my friends in various 12 step programs: The programs work, if you work it, so work it, you're worth it.

Reducing my calorie intake and getting in three full workouts, two partials, and two fight nights has, with the blessing of the good Lord God, led to me being the least I've weighed since probably 1990. Greatest thanks to God and all who have supported and shared with me.

With luck and the continued help of God I will make my intermediate goals of 210 pounds before Columbus Day, 200 pounds before Thanksgiving, and my ultimate goal of 190 pounds by the end of the year.

It's kinda nutty for me, I had originally planned on going down to 220 but figured that if I got stuck at 250 I'd be content. Then after good success and talking with my doctor I planned on getting down to 200. Then I decided that another ten pounds wouldn't hurt either; that way I can stay in the 190-200 pounds range.

Thank you all for sharing this milestone with me.

Deb... I just have to thank you again for starting this group. I have never... NEVER been able to log food before. Don't know why, I just couldn't. But for some reason, putting it here works for me. It's been over a week and I'm still doing it! This is really helping me stay focused! And I like reading what the others are doing as well. I like to be supportive of them, and I appreciate their words of encouragement too.

This is really great.

Tuesday 9/12/06
8:00 - Meijer version of strawberry cream Slim-Fast drink.

16 oz of hot tea w/a dollop of milk and 2 little packets of sugar.

1:00 - Dr. Sears from the Zone Diet said that a double-cheeseburger from the dollar menu (without the top bun) is ok, so I had that and gave in to PMS and got a small coke from McD's that I only drank half of, but it was good.

5:30 - PMSing big time! Craving sugar & salt. Ate a bag of microwave popcorn for snack.

9:00 - Manwich sloppy joe, openfaced.


Wednesday 9/13/06
8:30 am - 4 oz container of lowfat cottage cheese. Lots of protein in that little thing!

16 oz hot tea w/milk & sugar

1:30 pm - 8 oz of chili w/beans, small mescalun salad w/feta & low-cal catalina dressing & 12 oz of water. I hate all things low-cal, but that dressing was good!

Got 2-1/2 hrs of teaching dance class tonight so I'm going to aim for a snack about 5.

Between yesterday and today I had a full pound weight loss; between earlier in the week and today I have had about a 4 pound weight loss. Alot of that was the salt load I was carrying from eating and overeating salty fods on the weekend; once you flush out the NaCl, the water weight flies right back off.

Yesterday I had my usual bagel with cream cheese for late breakfast/early lunch at the office. A couple handsful of pretzels cheesed from someone else's office were added during the day. Then for dinner, which I had early because I had heavy fighter practice last night, I had a Subway turkey and ham 12" hoagie. I also had a snack pack pudding and a couple pieces of fruit. I'd estimate my calories as follows: Bagel with cream cheese: 380 calories; Subway hoagie (as per their information) circa 600 calories. Esitmating pretzels at 300 calories and pudding at 120 calories and fruit at 100 calories, I ended up with about 1400 calories for the day; hence the one pound weight loss. My current body weight ought to take in about 2500 calories, give or take, not including workout calories burned off.

I have another 2 pounds to get to where I was before I stopped working out and started eating like a pig for two months over the summer; that'd be 218.6 pounds. I want to get to 190 pounds and I hope to get there by year's end; reallisticaly with the hoildays coming up that'll be somewhat difficult, but I will try my damnedest.

I know I have a good deal to go, and the last pounds are always the hardest for me. But I am bouyed by the fact of how far I've come since January-February of 2005 and love the way I look now in decent fitting easy to find even at cheapo Steve and Berry's clothes.

I really really wanna be under 220 by the week's end, so tonight I am thinking of another steak or other meat salad or two. And fresh fruit too, always good. I have a while huge bag of pears sitting on the counter that someone gave us and they are always a good snack.

Monday night 9/11/06
Since I ate lunch late, I didn't have a snack at work. When I got home at

5:30 - I had a little container of yogurt, then went out to mow the lawn. Ugh. I hate that. Took me just over an hour. It's a big yard.

9:00 - Went out for dinner at Ruby Tuesdays. Had a chopped steak-burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato & a little mayo. NO FRIES!!! I had some really awsome baby green beans instead! And drank water! I'm so proud of myself! Then we went to UDF & got a single scoop of orange sherbert for dessert.

11/12/06
8:00 - Drank the Meijer version of Slim-Fast for breakfast.

Need to go get some tea.
